The main event, in the Lightweight division, will feature three five-minute rounds and will close out the professional Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) event. “Fortunately, with the date adjustment, we were able to maintain our original main event at UWC 57. This speaks volumes about the professionalism of Villegas and Zapien, their desire to demonstrate who is the best in our cage. "It remains our main event, with the winner expected to challenge for the vacant Lightweight Championship soon. That fight could take place this summer for the upcoming event," UWC president Alejandro Islas commented. It is a great opportunity for both Villegas (11-3-0), from Los Mochis, Sinaloa, and Zapien (5-3-0), from Casa Chimeyo, Naucalpan de Juarez, State of Mexico, both in their first turn at UWC. At 32, Zapien remains active as one of Casa Chimeyo's main instructors, and says he's more than ready for his return to professional MMA fighting after earning his black belt in Brazilian jiu jitsu. Meanwhile, Villegas, a member of Kings MMA who already makes Tijuana, Baja California, his base of operations, has distinguished himself as a master of submissions, having achieved seven victories by tapping his opponents. |
