BRAVE CF 69 will forever be the moment BRAVE Combat Federation helped transform the Balkan region's MMA scene. Earlier this year, the BRAVE Serbia International Combat Week saw hundreds of athletes and thousands of fans from more than 60 countries enter Belgrade, Serbia, in what would become Europe's largest combat sports festival. 550 Amateur athletes descended upon Serbia to compete in the IMMAF World Championships before BRAVE CF 69 blew the roof off of a sold-out Stark Arena in the culmination of the week-long fight festival.
The impact made by BRAVE Combat Federation, the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation, and the Serbian Mixed Martial Arts Federation was to such an extent that the Serbian government officially endorsed MMA as a sport and announced the inclusion of MMA as part of the sports development initiative of Serbia. It was a great moment for the sport, its fans, and the Serbian tourism industry.
After the Serbian government announced its plans to endorse MMA, BRAVE CF President Mohammed Shahid encouraged the rest of Europe to follow suit, a move that will also see more involvement from the private sector in turn increasing the sustainability of the MMA sports economy.
Now, BRAVE Combat Federation will use a similar template to roll out His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa’s vision of building European MMA when BRAVE CF 70 touches down in Ljubljana, Slovenia, on April 23. BRAVE CF 70 will again show off BRAVE CF's international flavor as sixteen world-class athletes from twelve countries will showcase their talents as BRAVE CF looks to activate Slovenia as the Central European MMA hub. BRAVE CF 70 will be the promotion’s 20th European event, with eleven countries visited - reiterating the influence of the most-global MMA promotion.
Since the brand’s inception in 2016, BRAVE CF has surpassed all expectations in the European market by hosting events in Northern Ireland (BRAVE CF 13), England, (BRAVE CF 24), Romania (BRAVE CF 28, 35, 36), Sweden (BRAVE CF 37, 38, 39, 40), Russia (BRAVE CF 46, 55), Belarus (BRAVE CF 51), Italy (BRAVE CF 52), Poland (BRAVE CF 54), Serbia (BRAVE CF 56, 69), Germany (BRAVE CF 61, 68) and Slovenia (BRAVE CF 34).
BRAVE CF returns to Slovenia for the second time in three years after the success of BRAVE CF 34 in January 2020. It will again be co-promoted with leading regional organization WFC as BRAVE Combat Federation aims to strengthen Central European MMA, just like it has done with the Balkan and Eastern European regions (Russia and Belarus).
The main event will see the highly-respected Slovenian MMA legend Marko Drmonjic deliver his swansong in front of his home fans when he competes against Bosnian superstar Erko Jun in a Light Heavyweight bout. The co-main event will be an explosive Super Welterweight fight between Joilton Lutterbach and Sweden’s Andreas Gustafsson Berg.
