--- UFC Fight Night 169: Benavidez vs. Figueiredo is an upcoming mixed martial arts event produced by the Ultimate Fighting Championship that is planned to take place on February 29, 2020 at Chartway Arena in Norfolk, Virginia, United States. Brown Featherweight Aalon Cruz vs. Spike Carlyle Welterweight Ismail Naurdiev vs. Sean Brady Background The event will be the second that the promotion has hosted in Norfolk and first since UFC Fight Night: Poirier vs. Pettis in November 2017. A UFC Flyweight Championship bout for the vacant title between former title challenger Joseph Benavidez and Deiveson Figueiredo is expected to serve as the event headliner. Multi-divisional champion Henry Cejudo announced on December 20, 2019 that he would be relinquishing the flyweight title and would concentrate on competing solely in the bantamweight division. A welterweight bout between Alex Oliveira and Mickey Gall was scheduled for the event. However, on December 27, 2019 the bout was pulled from the event by the UFC. The bout will not be replaced and no reason was given by the UFC. A featherweight bout between Chas Skelly and Grant Dawson was scheduled on January 18, 2020 at UFC 246. However, on January 14, 2020, Dawson announced on his personal social media that he was forced to withdraw from the bout. The bout was rescheduled to this event. On February 7, 2020 it was reported that Skelly was injured during one of his training session and was forced to withdraw from the event, He was replaced by promotional newcomer Darrick Minner. A featherweight bout between Steven Peterson and Aalon Cruz was scheduled at the event. However, Peterson was pulled from the event for an unknown reason and he was replaced by promotional newcomer Spike Carlyle. A featherweight between Mike Davis and Giga Chikadze was scheduled for the event; However, Davis was pulled from the event for undisclosed injury. It is unknown at the moment if a replacement would be sought by UFC official. A lightweight bout between Luis Peña and Alexander Muñoz was scheduled for the event. However, on February 23, 2020, it was announced that Muñoz was pulled from the card due to injury, and he was replaced by Steve Garcia. Feb 25 - Updated fight card |
