--- UFC 247: Jones vs. Reyes is an upcoming mixed martial arts event produced by the Ultimate Fighting Championship that is planned to take place on February 8, 2020 at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas, United States. Fight card Main Card Light Heavyweight Jon Jones (c) vs. Dominick Reyes Light Heavyweight Championship Women's Flyweight Valentina Shevchenko (c) vs. Katlyn Chookagian Women's Flyweight Championship Heavyweight Juan Adams vs. Justin Tafa Featherweight Mirsad Bektić vs. Dan Ige Heavyweight Derrick Lewis vs. Ilir Latifi Preliminary Card (ESPN) Middleweight Trevin Giles vs. Antonio Arroyo Women's Flyweight Lauren Murphy vs. Andrea Lee Welterweight Alex Morono vs. Kalinn Williams Bantamweight Miles Johns vs. Mario Bautista Early Preliminary Card (UFC Fight Pass) Bantamweight Journey Newson vs. Domingo Pilarte Bantamweight Andre Ewell vs. Jonathan Martinez Featherweight Austin Lingo vs. Youseff Zalal Background A light heavyweight title bout between UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones and Dominick Reyes is expected to serve as the headliner. A women's flyweight title bout between UFC Women’s Flyweight Champion Valentina Shevchenko and Katlyn Chookagian is expected to serve as the co-headliner. While not officially announced by the organization, the promotion was initially targeting a light heavyweight bout between former title challenger Ovince Saint Preux and Ryan Spann to take place at the event. However, promotion matchmakers elected to go in another direction and the pairing was scrapped from the event. A bantamweight bout between Sean O'Malley and José Alberto Quiñónez was originally scheduled to take place at UFC 229. However, it was scrapped after O'Malley failed a United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) drug test. The bout was then expected to take place at this event but it was eventually moved to UFC 248 for unknown reasons. Dhiego Lima was scheduled to face Alex Morono at the event. However, Lima was forced off the card on January 22 with a neck injury, and he was replaced by Kalinn Williams. Jimmie Rivera was scheduled to face Marlon Vera at the event. However, Rivera pulled out of the fight on January 23 citing an injury. In turn, promotion officials elected to remove Vera from the card entirely. Anytime Jon Jones fights I get pretty damn excited. Dominick Reyes is a beast himself. I would have to say this is probably the best match up I have seen in a long while, as both have incredible stand up and ground game. Both can fight going forward and backwards. Both can knock you out with one punch. This is definitely going to be either an edge of your seat fight or an extremely strategized fight, where both pick and choose when to strike. As they both know the other can damage each other with one strike. Should be a good one! If UFC 246 went too fast for ya on the main event, I definitely think this is going to make up for it. |

Yeah I agree, Im also very pumped for this fight! Good to see Jones back again, and Dominique is as good of a challenger as any previous, if not better. Also great to be able to see Shevchenko fight again! |

Oh yeah!!! Shevchenko is a beast in her own right, but I will say this, I think Chookagian is going to give her that most trouble she has had from any fighter yet, other than Nunes of course. Chookagian just has no quit in her, her stand up is just as good as Shevchenko and her ground game is better. Going to be an extremely great fight. And I totally agree with Reyes giving Jones his hardest fight. Its going to be a battle for sure. |

Ahh that stinks they dropped Vera off the Card. He's usually quite exciting to watch fight. I am sure they will move his fight to 248 or 249. Would be dope to see him fight on 249. That's a pretty stacked card already. But, so is 248, Really excited to see Zhang Weili fight Joanna Jedrzejczyk. I honestly don't think that Joanna has a chance, Weili is a beast. And I cannot wait for the rematch of Andrade vs. Namajunas at 249. I think I am more excited for that than the Khabib/ Ferguson fight. But, none the less, we have 247 next weekend and its gonna be epic af!!! |
